Time moves on and trends change and people change with them. While I can understand this fact, I refuse to accept it (for now) and I just can’t move on and completely forget about all these amazing groups that have either disbanded or have been inactive for a long time. With that out of the way, I would like to introduce you to this guide I created, to help new K-pop fans who may be interested to check out a few of the older groups that were around for the 2007-2015 era of K-pop. (Note: Some groups underwent line-up changes along the way of their careers, so I will be using the line-up that was more recently active to present each group) Girls’ Generation (2007-Present) Members: • Taeyeon - Leader, Main Vocalist • Sunny - Lead Vocalist • Tiffany - Lead Vocalist • Hyoyeon - Vocalist, Main Dancer • Yuri - Vocalist, Lead Dancer • Sooyoung - Vocalist, Lead Dancer • Yoona - Vocalist, Lead Dancer, Face of the Group • Seohyun - Lead Vocalist, Maknae Past Member: • Jessica (2007-2014) Girls’ Generation debuted in 2007 with the single “Into the New World”.
Their musical style relies heavily on electropop and bubblegum pop as well as dance music and their image focuses on carefree and cheerful themes but they have tackled other musical and visual styles as well. While they were relatively well-received since debut, their big hit “Gee” is what boosted their way to the top and has made them a household name in South Korea and most of East Asia, with K-pop fans referring to them as “The Nation’s Girl Group” and other similar titles. Their 2010 Japanese debut with a translated version of their 2009 hit “Genie” was largely succesful and they have met further popularity and success in their neighbouring country ever since. Greatest Hits: “ ”, “ ”, “ ”, “ ”, “ ” 2NE1 (2009-2016) Members: • Bom - Main Vocalist • Dara - Vocalist, Face of the Group • CL - Leader, Lead Vocalist, Main Rapper • Minzy - Lead Vocalist, Lead Rapper, Main Dancer, Maknae 2NE1 debuted in 2009 with their hit single “Fire”. Known for their electronic-based sound and bold, in-your-face type of image, 2NE1 was loved for their fierce style and for daring to stand out, refusing to fit into any mold. Their best-selling hit “I Don’t Care” solidified their position as a top-tier group right after their debut and their follow-up hits allowed them to remain on top for the next six years after their debut. Descargar Ingles Sin Barreras Gratis Completos. Greatest Hits: “ ”, “ ”, “ ”, “ ”, “ ” SISTAR (2010-2017) Members: • Bora - Sub-Vocalist, Main Rapper, Main Daner • Hyolyn - Leader, Main Vocalist, Rapper • Soyou - Lead Vocalist • Dasom - Vocalist, Face of the Group, Maknae SISTAR debuted in 2010 with the single “Push Push”.
They worked closely with producer Brave Sound for the better part of their career and released extremely catchy dance singles which they accompanied with their sexy image and choreographies. Their rise to stardom started in 2011 with their best-selling hit “So Cool” and for the following six years they dominated the digital singles charts with their subsequent releases, a feat which earned them the nickname “Digital Monsters” for their astonishing digital sales and helped them solidify their position as a top group and form what Korean fans call “The Unbreakable Wall” along with Girls’ Generation and 2NE1.
Greatest Hits: “ l”, “ ”, “ ”, “ ”, “” KARA (2007-2016) Members (Last Active Line-up): • Gyuri (2007-2016) - Leader, Lead Vocalist, Rapper • Seungyeon (2007-2016) - Main Vocalist • Hara (2008-2016) - Vocalist, Rapper, Main Daner, Face of the Group • Youngji (2014-2016) - Vocalist, Main Rapper, Maknae Past Members: • Sunghee (2007-2008) • Nicole (2007-2014) • Jiyoung (2008-2014) KARA debuted in 2007 with their first studio album “The First Blooming” and used “Break It” as the lead single to promote it. After failing to reach the expected ammount of sales and recognition they had hoped to achieve, the group underwent a complete image change one year after debut, switching from R&B/Hip-Hop influenced sound and style, to a cute and bubbly image that was well-received by the public. Their first number-one hit, “Honey” (2009) soon followed and the group continued to gain more and more popularity with follow-up singles “Mister” (2009) and “Lupin”(2010), among others. Debuting in Japan with a translated version of their Korean hit “Mister” in 2010, KARA received further love and fame in Japan, making them one of the most-succeful Korean acts promoting in the Japanese market, with some members still working in Japan after the group’s disbandment. The Wonder Girls are known as the “Retro Queens” of Korea thanks to their musical style that draws inspiration from the 60s, 70s and 80s and a fashion sense and visual style to match. In the later years of their career, the dance group learned how to play musical instruments, and made it a core part of their revamped image.
Their rise to fame followed soon after their debut with their singles “Tell Me” which took their home country by storm and “Nobody” which followed the next year. Following the huge domestic success of “Nobody”, the group released an English version of the song the next year, specifically-made to target the American music market. The song was a hit and the group was the first Korean act to enter the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. They went on to appear on TV and radio shows and even tour with the Jonas Brothers as their opening act and star in their own Nickelodeon-produced movie while working even harder to polish their musical style and skills during their stay in the United States. They continued to release hit songs for the three following years, and went on to debut in Japan in 2011 with a Japanese version of “Bo Peep Bo Peep” and then China, with their collaboration single “Little Apple” (2014) with Chinese duo Chopstick Brothers, making them one of the most succesful groups in South Korea, Japan and China. Their public image in South Korea suffered a big hit in 2012 after fabricated rumours arouse, claiming that the original members of the group were bullying a member who was removed from the group and company at that time.
The group continued to release music in their home country, but were mostly supported by their international fans. Said rumours were finally proven false five years later, restoring the group’s image and ceasing all of the unjust accusations made against them. Greatest Hits: “ ”, “ ”, “ ”, “ ”, “ ” Brown Eyed Girls (2006-Present) Members: • JeA - Leader, Main Vocalist • Miryo - Sub-Vocalist, Main Rapper • Narsha - Lead Vocalist, Lead Dancer • Gain - Lead Vocalist, Main Dancer, Face of the Group, Maknae Brown Eyed Girls debuted as an R&B/Ballad vocal group with “Come Closer” in 2006. Brown Eyed Girls are what one would call the ultimate feminist icons in the K-pop industry. Mature, bold, brave, sexy, strong, independent, unapologetic are all words that perfectly describe the core concepts that the group’s music and image revolve around. They started gaining popularity in 2008 with their song “L.O.V.E” and then captivated their home country with “Abracadabra” the following year. The Brown Eyed Girls are also notable for the relatively big age gap they have compared to their contemporary colleagues, and for staying together for eleven (and counting!) years, without any member changes too. The characters’ absence will be referenced in the season premiere. Sources tell Variety that Park and Kim had been seeking pay equality with stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, but were unable to reach satisfactory deals with CBS Television Studios, which produces the series.
Kim and Park were believed to be making 10-15% less than O’Loughlin and Caan. “I will never forget meeting Daniel while still writing the pilot and being certain there was no other actor who I’d want to play Chin Ho Kelly,” said executive producer Peter Lenkov. “Needless to say, Daniel has been an instrumental part of the success of ‘Hawaii Five-0’ over the past 7 seasons and it has personally been a privilege to know him. Grace’s presence gave ‘Hawaii Five-0’ a beauty and serenity to each episode. She was the consummate collaborator, helping build her character from day 1.
They will always be ohana to us, we will miss them and we wish them both all the best.” A CBS spokesperson said in a statement: “We are so appreciative of Daniel and Grace’s enormous talents, professional excellence and the aloha spirit they brought to each and every one of our 168 episodes. They’ve helped us build an exciting new Hawaii Five-0, and we wish them all the best and much success in their next chapters. Mahalo and a hui hou” Kim and Park have both been cast members on “Hawaii Five-O” alongside O’Loughlin and Caan since CBS premiered a rebooted version of the classic television cop show in 2010.
The “Hawaii Five-0” changes represent the latest in at returning broadcast dramas. NBC’s “Taken” and ABC’s “Quantico” and “Once Upon a Time” have also parted ways with veteran cast members in the lead up to the coming season. Below are movies that I have watched and recommend or have been recommended to me that are in Russian. Ahhh so exciting! Download Killer Instinct Pc Game.
I love you, Anon! All of these should be easily found with English subs, but if you are having trouble, message me.
As you will see, I am fond of a decent amount of romance, and am a fangirl for some actors more than others. Plus, they are all (IMO) good entry points. I put in a MV for each. Bu Bu Jing Xin/Startling By Each Step To watch if you like beautiful visuals, time travel, heroines that grow, tragedies, romance. Not to watch if you don’t like Qing hairstyles, slow pace, heroine loving more than one man in the course of the drama.
Eternal Love/Three Lives Three Worlds Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms To watch if you like beautiful visuals, a lot of sort-of reincarnation, all-consuming romance, high fantasy and mythology. Not to watch if you don’t like really slow starts, a lot of CGI, heroines that can be immature. General and I To watch if you like beautiful visuals (notice a theme?), a romance novel in period cdrama form, very competent leads in an enemies to lovers storyline, angst. Not to watch if you don’t like long dramas, lengthy OTP separations, unrealistic medical conditions (welcome to wuxia!:P) Gong/Palace/Jade Palace Lock Heart To watch if you like beautiful visuals (notice a theme?), time travel, comedy, romance with a hero obsessed with heroine, seeing Boys Over Flowers in period form. Not to watch if you hate Qing hairstyles, some goofiness, heroine spending early chunk of drama in love with someone else, a little bit of cartoonishness. Ice Fantasy To watch if you like beautiful visuals (arguably most beautiful drama I’ve seen, design-wise), high fantasy, heroic quests, brotherly love, something that looks like a Tolkien AU, BAMF heroines, multiple romances, fairy tales.
Not to watch if you don’t like - major wigs and costumes, a certain simplicity that comes from fairy tale frame up, plot holes. Lan Ling Wang/Prince of Lan Ling To watch if you like romance novels in period form, killer dudes with long hair who are putty in hands of tiny heroines, married couples in love, evil harem intrigue, defying fate, masks and rose petals. Not to watch if you don’t like stories that lack political complexity and look like shoujo manga come to life. Legend of Condor Heroes 2008 version To watch if you like wuxia, cool OTPs, smart heroines, a tragic antihero, fights fights fights. Not to watch if you don’t like magic, crazy medicine, secondary characters in some insane make up.
Novoland To watch if you like something shorter than your usual cdrama, fantasy, romance, people with wings. Not to watch if you don’t like a strong case of what looks like BDSM fixation on part of the writer, a bit of childishness, and an ending that is polarizing (fair warning - I am in the tiny minority who was OK with it.) The Glamorous Imperial Concubine/Qing Shi Huang Fei To watch if you like female centric stories, messed up love stories, evil families, secondary guys who are unhealthy intense but magnetic, a lot of hurt/comfort, arc where heroine goes from disney princess to cynical BAMF. Not to watch if you don’t like family intrigue, messed up male leads, crazy secondaries. Return of Condor Heroes 2006 version To watch if you like wuxia, truly jaw-dropping visuals, beautiful deadly people madly in forbidden love (sometimes the whole drama feels like a cinematic swoon), battles. My first cdrama that got me hooked.
Not to watch if you don’t want to skip the first two-three eps (which are awful), are not OK with certain fairy tale logic. Strange Hero Yi Zi Mei/Vigilantes in Masks To watch if you like Robin Hood stories, fights, heroes who climb out of pit of self-loathing slowly, self-contained arcs. Not to watch if you don’t like love stories that are secondary, mysteries.
The Four To watch if you want a popcorn procedural about Ming constables who solve crimes and fall in love, some pretty fights, werewolves, awesome girl melting angsty cold jerk lead, multiple love stories. Not to watch if you want some spectacular acting or deep plot. The Myth To watch if you are like me and this is your number 1 drama ever.
OK, seriously, if you like time travel, moral dilemmas, best hero ever, battles, tragedy, amazing character arcs. SERIOUSLY THE WAY EVERYONE ELSE FEELS ABOUT NIRVANA IN FIRE, I FEEL ABOUT THE MYTH. Not to watch if you don’t want to be an ugly sobbing wreck. OK, and also if you want romance be number 1 (it’s in there and awesome but secondary) and also I skipped the modern storyline so no idea if it’s good but the period part of the drama is THE BEST THING EVER EVER EVER EVER. The Young Warriors/Young Warriors of the Yang Clan To watch if you like battles, a super cool family of fighters with their own personalities and issues, many love stories. Not to watch if you don’t like ugly hats, a little bit older dramas, and disgustingly thorough heart crushing. Three Kingdoms (2010 version) To watch if you want a crazy smart political drama with complex characters, many battles, and political manipulation.
Not to watch if you don’t want a 90+ ep drama that spans a hundred years, has very few women and only one love story of note. Pls note I did not list any drama set in the 20th century as not sure if it qualified as historical under your standards. @the Les mis fandom I have a question For every incarnation of our beloved musical, I feel like there’s a “list of things from the [year] [place] production of les mis,” (i love all of these posts, btw) and they’ve always got stuff like, “Gav and R were adorable, R gave Gav piggybacks and then R screamed when Gav died” and “[actor] was the best version of [character] I have ever seen,” and “Courferac’s hair was a thing of Beauty and Grace,” and etc And they always Always Have a whole host of ExR moments. They vary from show to show - R running across the stage to E when he sees him in danger, moments of Deliberate Eye Contact during lyrics like “here’s to pretty girls who went to our bed,” moments of affection, emotion, things like that Infamous Moment in the 2010 anniversary version, etc.
Now – i didn’t even know about ExR until I rewatched the movie a few years ago, and after it ended had a brief “woah wait there will be fan fiction about this” realisation, went and checked AO3 (expecting a pile of Javert/Valjean stuff, tbh, but hoping for one or two fics that were focussed on the barricade boys) and then fell down the rabbit hole of ExR Les Amis and have felt zero desire to climb back out of it since. But up until I found all the ExR fics, I honestly didn’t know that was even a ship. (Which, thanks for that, folks, cause this ship has taken over my soul and there’s no going back) So My question is. How do all these countless incarnations of Les Mis all have such significant and yet varied moments of ExR-ness in them? Let’s be real, a significant number of the people involved in the various versions of the production won’t have read the book. It’s a big fucking book, and it takes some serious dedication. I feel like every single version of the show is undeniably ExR-oriented.
Some more blatantly than others, sure. But for something that was only ever alluded to as a one sided admiration in the book, ExR has permeated every single version of the tale that winds up under the stage lights. Is there a line at the start of R’s script that says, “fyi: your character is helplessly, hopelessly, irredeemably in love with the leader,” and one in E’s script that says “fyi: the drunk pillock who irritates the shit out of your character? You actually love him.” Or is it all just completely unspoken?? Just —- something that just enough people are aware of that it’s something that - despite being written nowhere - ends up featuring in literally every single version of this musical??
I’m so curious. Is the ExR element something that’s specified somehow in the scripts? Or is it down to the individual actors/directors to introduce it? And just see how much they can insert without anyone else noticing (here’s looking at you, Blagden) How, how, how is it such a universal thing? Is there a fic where Bucky is immortal (or close to it) and meets Steve during the war? They flirt, maybe have a short affair, but Bucky isn’t interesting in committing to someone - especially during war time - who could die some day (soon). War is fun for short affairs.
He finds Steve beautiful and fascinating, though. Thinks of him sometimes after the plane goes down.
He doesn’t like the longing and regret it causes, because that’s what he’d been trying to avoid the whole time. And maybe he became a little too attached to Steve. Maybe he let himself think that Steve wasn’t as easy to kill as he turned out to be after witnessing Steve survive a bullet wound that would have killed anyone else within moments.
Almost 70 years go. Then it’s 2011 and Captain America is trending on Twitter. Bucky’s not in America, so he assumes someone else was found to step into those big shoes and doesn’t pay it much attention. Doesn’t search out information. Steve finds him, instead. Not deliberately. Bucky is walking down the street one day and turns a corner and comes face to face with Steve Rogers, and he’s just as beautiful and arresting as he was the first moment Bucky saw him on the battlefield in Europe, even in a terrible ball cap and hoodie.
And Steve is shocked to see him. “Hello, Steve,” Bucky says, and can’t help but smile that flirtatious, dirty smirk that got Steve into his bed in the first place. “Bucky,” Steve breathes, and oh it’s been a long time since someone has used that name. Bucky is filled with inexplicable fondness for the man in front of him, had forgotten the sound of his voice and the true shape of his mouth, and he thinks that if surviving on ice for 70 years passes a few of Bucky’s tests. “You look good for someone who should be dead,” Steve continues.
Bucky had forgotten about what that mouth was capable of. “So do you,” he answers, deliberately dragging his eyes down Steve’s body.
(and yeah I got carried away) (not sorry). Remake of an old drawing! I’ve had a bit of an art block for a while, so finally here’s an upload! A lot has changed!
Doesn’t even look like it was done by the same artist. 2010 was also the year when I got my Wacom Cintiq, so I think the original one may have been one of the first I did with that tablet - I don’t remember exactly. It’s always nice to look back and see improvements, especially since I remember that I really liked the original drawing when I finished it in 2010, and I also like the one I just finished.
Maybe in 7 years I can look back on this version and have a good cringe. =P Tools used 2010: - Wacom Cintiq 12WX - Photoshop CS4 or something? - Default brushes I think?
Tools used 2017: - Wacom Cintiq 12WX - Photoshop CC - Kyle Webster brushes.
