Cd Label Software Boeder

I used to use a program called Boeder with three labels per sheet but their software won't run in W2000. I switched to a program called Expressit for printing CD labels. This uses two labels per sheet but the software is the absolute pits. Are templates available for either of these two sheets? Failing that can someone tell me how to draw two accurate circles to define the shape that don't print. I have looked on the CD resourse disk that comes with V 8.0 but this just shows a CD with no indication of positioning on the paper. My attempts to draw an accurate circle are not very good.

The only way I can see it to freehand drag one out. My apologies for what is probably a very basic issue but although I've used PP from V3.0 I only use a very small percentage of it's features to produce machine handbooks.

John Stevenson. I do a lot of my own cd templates, and I've never been happy with the MS Word templates and photoshop templates that came with my software. I have always used PP to create my own template, and not the one that comes with the PP wizards. Basically, it involves a lot of measuring with a ruler. Measure the circumference of the cd, cd inlays covers etc.

If you have a sheet that comes with the CD label software, basically measure where they place their CD label on the page itself. Try and copy it onto a PP page (master border A4). Then when you print the page with master page objects visable, you should see the placement of the circle outline. Print it off onto cheep paper, thinner the better, and hold the software label sheet up to the light, with your printed circle paper on top, so that you can see through it to check the correct allignment, make sure the all edges of the paper are together! If it is not totally mm accurate, adjust as necessary.

You should be able to get a perfect template after maybe 3 or 4 printouts. Once the circle is in place, layout your text and graphics, then 'hide master page objects' and print off your labels. Here's a slight variation that isn't necessarily as good for this situation, but might be useful for other jobs: (Particularly when you can't or don't want to mess with the Msster Page setup.) Draw your positioning lines, circles or whatever in a unique color (bright green, for example.) Also draw a line that runs off the page onto the clipboard. This will be the 'handle.'

Put it somewhere that will not have objects in the way of selecting the handle later. After all the positioning lines are in the right place, select them all, including the handle, and group them. When youve enterd the text then dblclick the circle frame and select no outline (- with X over it) walter. I'm having a problem with master pages. I realise I've done this the wrong way round but I'm sure there is a fix. I have managed to set out page 1 accurately for my template. What I now need to do is copy page 1 onto the master page.

I have tried copy paste and it works but I loose the position and I don't want to redo this all over again. What I really need is a facility to rename page 1 to master 1 or someway to accurately copy paste between pages. I am really suprised that if I select the whole page it does keep position. John, I would suggest that on p1 you Select All (Edit/select all or ctrl+a), group everything, note the top two figures in the Change Bar, copy, go to Master Page, Paste, and while still grouped, amend the figures in the Change Bar to what they were on p1. When you go back to p1, the original items should be precisely aligned with the Master Page objects. On p1 you can now Select All again, and press delete.

The Master Page items will still be visible, provided, of course, you haven't turned them off on the View menu. Thanks Geoff, After I sent my query as regarding master pages I managed to sort it. I drew a large box the same size as the page, selected all and copy / paste it as you said.

I then lined the box up with the edges of the master page. In all cases they were still out by about 10mm in the up and left directions. Is this a bug? Surely copy pasting like this should keep alignment. I've got this sorted now though so I'll drop it but I'm going to start a new thread and ask other to check this alignment problem. In PP6, took about 10 minutes. Measured the parameters of the label cut outs [mine come 2 to view on an A4 sheet]. Once the circles have been created, I made the lines a very light yellow - a 30% tint of the standard yellow on the colour bar I think. Just enough to see, but not enough to effect the layout.

Then I locked the circles on the page and sent them to the back, a few test prints sent to a colour laser to get it bang on, and voila! I overlay the required designs on this template, and save as something different each time. Here's the PP6 file.as an idea.
