Envision Conservatory for the Humanities presents:Debate Deconstructed Join CCA's Conservatory for the Humanities, the CCA Social Science Department, and the San Diego World Affairs Council for a live viewing of the 2nd presidential debate, followed by an analysis and Q&A session with local policy experts. We aim to promote civic engagement in an atmosphere that is respectful, educational, and engaging, while giving you a chance to hear the issues explored through a local lens.

This community event is sure to spur constructive dialogue on the issues that matter most to you. Congratulations to the following CCA Envision Cinema Conservatory students who produced the eight films listed below that have been selected to be screened at the All American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF) in New York, NY this October. The AAHSFF is the world's largest high school student film festival. Three students, Navin Bose, Gabe Gaurano, and Jayden Gillespie will attend the festival and also compete in the AAHSFF AT&T Film Invitational competition, where they will film and edit a short film in three days in New York City. That film will also screen at the festival.

Envision Cinema and CCA-TV had nine nominated videos at this past weekend's San Diego County Office of Education Innovative Video in Education Awards, and we won five awards (more than any other high school), including the best in show high school Grand Recognition award. T oyota/Discovery Education National Recognition A CCA student-produced PSA about distracted driving beat out more than 1500 videos nationwide to be selected as one of ten finalists in the Discovery Education and Toyota TeenDrive365 Video Challenge. The video called 'Glove Box It' was directed by Gabriel Gaurano and Navin Bose in the Envision Cinema Conservatory program.

The students are in competition for multiple prizes, including the first place prize of $15,000 and the chance to work with a DIscovery film crew to reshoot their video in a TV-ready PSA. CCA's Envision Cinema won five awards, the most in the high school division, in Saturday's Innovative Video in Education (iVIE) K-12 student video competition and festival held by the San Diego County Office of Education, including the iVIE SDCCU Red Eye 36-hr competition, How To Video, Global Village, Financial Wellness, and the Bill Simpson Award (celebrating learning through filmmaking in honor of the founder of the iVIE program). CCA took home a total of $2700 in prize money, plus three Sony HD video cameras.

The exhibition will be on view from January 23rd through February 22nd 2015. An opening reception will take place at the San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park on January 23rd from 6-8 pm.

An awards reception will be held at the closing of the exhibition on February 22nd from 1-2:30 at SDAI. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal-seeking reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 50s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage.
